Hey friends,
I am out here in Tucson Az. now and I want to start performing around town but I don't know what to charge. I do Hoop, Poi, Baton, Fire Fingers. eat and breathe. What does a girl charge for somewthing like that? People are asking and I have NO clue what to tell them.
Anyone?

Re: What to charge?
Mon, October 10, 2005 - 7:01 PMMy opinion is that any highly skilled performer should charge at least what the going rate for any professional that comes to a site charges in your area, plus some because you are providing unusual, hard-to-find, and skilled entertainment. For instance, if a certified electrician or plumber in your area might charge $80.00/hr, you should charge at or over $100.00/hr.
Now, there are some parts of the country where you can't shake a stick without hitting hoopers, fire eaters, or belly dancers, and so the going rate might be less. And there are many parts of the country where there simply is very little interest or demand for certain types of performers. Some types of entertainment may be more demanding, or have higher costs, and so you should adjust for those considerations as well.
