Performance Foot-Wear

Hi all,

I think feet are great, usually well engineered for what we need to do. But often they can get a little help from foot wear! And sometimes, alittle help is really a lot of help...

What kind of footwear do you wear during your performances, and why, and do you have any horror stories about shoes or feet related to performances?

When I do musical performances, about any kind of shoe will do. But I usually take them off anyways shortly before the performance and just wear socks or sometimes perform barefoot.

When I've done vigorous dance performances, I've worn black "walking" shoes built for comfort, with lots of padding and rubber soles. I have worn jas shoes and love them for regular club dancing, because they are so light, but have given up because they don't give me enough protection from other people who step on my feet, often with large boots, and sometimes drunkenly...

I prefer to dance barefoot- but with some floorings or some outdoor events this is impossible.
For indoor events I have a pair of hermes sandals- you can spray paint them- so for cabaret style I paint them silver. I have a pair of Latin dance heels for Lebanese style- but haven't used them for performance yet.
Outdoors I eiher use a pair of black flats or a pair of rubber soled sandals that keep my feet in really securely.

i prefer just 2 wear socks but thats not practical outdoors.

I like flat soles where the heel is the exact same height as the toe and it must have a sturdy sole that's practically bulletproof! I put my shoes through hellish terrain and I need them "built to last."

It must be comfortable obviously and ive had good luck with suade shoes where the top rises about 6-8 inches up the ankle for support. And also Timberland boots.

No I'll never pay the ridiculous price many people pay for shoes here in America and don't ask me how I acquire them.
